Welcome to Freedom to Speak, a collaborative, whole-person approach for people who stutter and their families.

Stuttering is a complex and multidimensional neurological trait that can impact a person’s life in many ways. My goal is to support and empower individuals to speak with greater ease and help them experience a sense of enhanced freedom and effectiveness, stutter or no stutter.

Becca Grussgott, M.A. CCC-SLP

After getting my Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology, I completed an extensive fellowship year in New York with one of the top stuttering experts in the country before joining his practice. While working closely together, I learned to integrate heart and mind while establishing meaningful relationships with people of all ages who stutter.

+ Costello Family

"Becca Grussgott has been working with our son for more than six years. From the very first day we all met her, she was a warm, caring, and compassionate professional. She not only has a tremendous amount of expertise in the field of stuttering, but she has an extraordinary way of being simultaneously comforting and instructive. Over the years she taught our son strategies to improve his speech, but above all his self-image. Becca has always been encouraging, yet realistic and practical. She truly knows and understands our son, his strengths and his challenges. She pushed him when needed, and gave him space when that was more productive. Many of their sessions over the years were as meaningful for him psycho-emotionally as they were practically as speech therapy. The same holds true for us as his parents. We could always share our thoughts, feelings, and concerns with Becca, and she always provided empathy coupled with practical advice. She is non-judgmental, honest, and has an unfailingly positive attitude. Any family struggling with stuttering—and if one person in the family stutters it is truly a family matter—would gain lifelong benefits to work with Becca, as we have. She is a deeply positive presence in our individual and collective family journey with stuttering.”

“Lexi stutters and we were struggling immensely as we didn’t think any hope was available for her stuttering and confidence. We were blessed to meet our speech therapist, Becca Grussgott, who literally changed our (and more importantly Lexi’s) life for the better. She educated us all about stuttering and gave Lexi the confidence to thrive and mature into a strong, confident, and vibrant young lady, who doesn’t let stuttering define her, but rather, embraces it as part of who she is. In addition to her extraordinary clinical skills, Becca is a warm and kind hearted young lady whose winning personality endears her to patients and family members immediately. She has had an incalculable impact on our lives and I can honestly say she has single handedly revolutionized the way we deal with our daughter’s stuttering. We are forever indebted to her and to this day she remains our go to person for Lexi and she will always remain an integral part of our lives.”

"Becca’s demeanor is very approachable, patient and compassionate. We were unsure of how we would begin this process, but we easily came to trust her professional advice, instincts and techniques. We have appreciated what Becca has taught us as parents in helping us clear an independent path forward for our son. We recognize how the success of her therapy is a family-centric effort that has aided our son and allowed us to understand him better. Her therapy is relaxed, conversational and personalized. We are so pleased to see that our son has learned from Becca’s techniques and that he has garnered the tools needed to maintain his progress. He now possesses the ability to be fluent frequently. Our son remains eager to be mindful of his effort and continue to improve upon his success.”

+ DiFilippi Family

“Becca quickly got to know us, and observed and assessed my son’s speech difficulties. She immediately began to teach all of us techniques that would assist my son when he stutters, helping him to speak with more fluency. Becca is a very articulate, passionate and intelligent person who has extensive knowledge in her field. She is very caring, has a wonderful personality, and works very well with our family. Becca creates a comfortable and warm environment for my son who looks forward to his sessions. My son has overcome a very difficult hurdle and is making tremendous progress.”

+ Michael

“I have been working with Becca for a few years. Her treatment has helped me become much more fluent and has made me feel more confident. She is really encouraging and makes me feel good about the progress I have made. She has provided me with several strategies to help me maintain my fluency. Now, I find that I can work to be fluent with a lot less effort. I have made such progress that I am able to speak and innately use my strategies.”
